Kilamajora

BackCare’s TalkBack writer Gillian Fowler, founder of BackStrong Adventures, is climbing Kilimanjaro in February 2016 for BackCare and BackStrong Trust, to raise much-needed funds and awareness of spinal injuries, pain management and research.

Gillian Fowler broke her back in 2008.  She has endured years of surgery and lives with chronic pain, but has been determined to live life to the full and not let her injuries and condition define the life ahead.  In the last 12 months, she has set up BackStrong Adventures to inspire and support others to aim high and achieve their dream.  She then took the step to set up BackStrong Trust to fundraise and provide much-needed support to those suffering spinal injuries.

Gillian’s surgeon Niall Craig and physiotherapist Emma Paterson (who also broke her back some years ago) will join her and Marie-Ann McLeod and Kay Morgan on this incredible challenge, and help raise funds and awareness of spinal conditions.   The team leave the UK on the 19th February, returning on the 28th of the month.

The team will raise funds for:

  • Backcare – UK’s back and neck pain charity
  • BackStrong Trust – enabling those who have endured spinal injuries and surgery to have online access to information, support community and providing friends/family a better understanding of their loved one’s condition.

All funds donated through Virgin Money Giving will go directly to registered charity Backcare, who will then donate 50% of the monies to BackStrong Trust.

Thank you Gillian for all you are doing to raise funds for BackCare and BackStrong Trust.  We really do appreciate it.
